Another month, another tyre

September

Needed a new tyre on the rear off side. The present tyre is wearing unevenly across the tread for some reason. There must be some sort of tracking error on the rear axle. Don’t know why this should be because there are no adjustments on the rear wheels. Oh well, that’s something else to be looking into when I can!

It always amazes me how much variation there is in the prices of tyres. I don’t mean from the various manufacturers, I mean between different workshops. You always have to do the dance. That is, phone around until you have some prices to compare. It’s always good to phone up some of the smaller places. They may not have the tyre you want, but they will get it for you often at a much cheaper price compared to the National Outlets. If you are in a hurry, you can phone one of the biggies and tell them the price you have been offered. They will invariably match the price and you can have the tyre fitted straight away.

It’s all a game really!
